New this year, a work party just for families!
Join us for two days of outdoor exploration (and s’mores!) alongside kid-friendly activities to help get the Peterson Bay Field Station ready for winter. Free/low-cost event!
We’ll head over to the Field Station on the morning of Saturday, September 28th and return mid-to-late afternoon on Sunday, September 29th. Final departure times tbd!
About 1/4 of our time will be spent exploring together in the forest and the beach, 1/4 doing some end-of-season cleaning and packing tasks suitable for kids of all ages and adults juggling infants. The rest of the time will be just enjoying the Field Station!
Logistics:
We will arrange boat transportation to and from the Field Station. Donations to partially or completely offset that cost are always welcome! If you have your own boat, please contact Katie Gavenus to talk about boat logistics. PBFS is a complicated place to moor.
Participants are expected to provide their own meals over the weekend. Coastal Studies will provide snacks, hot drinks, and s’mores. Bring rubber boots, warm clothes, rain gear, gloves, sleeping bags & pillows, basic toiletries, and a headlamp or flashlight.
A responsible adult must accompany any children. Participants may define “family” in any way that works for them. Please make sure any children know who their responsible adult(s) are.
Space is limited. Please contact Katie Gavenus to sign up or for more information, either at her email below or at 907-235-1974 (leave a voicemail).
