Wynn Winter Ecology

Get your students outside in the winter at Wynn Nature Center. We can provide an exciting 2-4 hour program to explore winter ecology with your class.  Students participate in experiential learning about how plants and animals survive the winter in Alaska.

Hands-on activities also include a snow density experiment,  digging a snow pit, hunting for animal tracks in the snow and learning how to snowshoe. Students also get to experience the insulating effect of snow by building thier own snow cave.

Age: Grades 4-8

Program dates: Snow dependent; usually best in February-March
