Sandhill Crane Count Days

Join us for the Sandhill Crane Count Days with Kachemak Crane Watch!

Fall is on the horizon, which means the Sandhill Crane migration is almost upon us.

August 24th, August 31st, and September 7th you can report all Sandhill Crane sightings to Kachemak Crane Watch by email: reports@cranewatch.org or by phone: 907-235-6262.

This information helps monitor our local crane population and understand nesting success!

Join us at the Beluga Slough picnic table from 6pm-11pm for Count Day Fly-Ins! Watch for cranes together and share what you’ve seen so far.

Information Needed Each Day:

  • Date, Time, and Location of sightings

  • Number of cranes, including number of adults, colts, and banded cranes

  • Details of what the cranes were doing

In each report, please leave your name and contact information to follow-up about details.

For more information, please contact Nina Faust at 907-235-6262.
