Sandhill Crane Count Days:

Migrational unrest is underway, so it’s time to collect data on nesting successes for the 2025 sandhill cranes! Join us for three days of citizen science with Kachemak Crane Watch. Report all Sandhill Crane sightings between 6am-11pm August 23rd, 30th, and September 6th to Crane Watch by email or phone.

Information needed each day:

• Date, Time, and Location

• Number of Cranes: # of adults, # of colts, # of banded cranes

• Details of what the cranes were doing (i.e. grooming, foraging, flying, etc.)

Join us for the Count Days Fly-ins at Beluga Slough from 6pm till sundown at the picnic table. Share stories from summer, record sightings with Crane Watch co-founder Nina Faust, and marvel at the migration.
